Ares's voice is one of the best powerful ones within the entire Metal scene! We are talking about this trio's sixth album, a band that used to self-define its sound as a Dark Metal one since the time they were under View Beyond Production Czech label! I have never perceived a direct link to that particular style, because the Death and Black Metal mix seemed just as common as the one appoached by other Norwegian bands: EMPEROR, SATYRICON, IMMORTAL. Still, AETERNUS is more focused on Death Metal! My draft conclusion: the album is far too short, the tracks are too brief and even if they enhance variety, the prevalent feeling is that the album has been conceived and performed is a hurry! Compared with the previous albums, this last one brings out certain sequences with a less aggressive voice, we can even detect interesting martial chorus entwined with great guitar solos on the background. But we can only experience that on two tracks, the longest ones as a matter of fact, the most complex too. Otherwise, Death Metal all around! If the whole album would have kept the line from the two tracks I've been telling you about, "The 9th Revolution" and "Ageless Void", we could definitely envision AETERNUS's best album! In verity, except for those two tracks, I can only compare this album with another modest one, rather brutal than conceptual too, released in 2001: "Ascension Of Terror".
