I'd say it is quite strange this second album of the ex-member RAJNA, Gerard! He, beside other members of SPEAKING SILENCE and LES SECRETS DU MORPHEE released two years ago a debut of which everybody had solely words of praise. Brave descendents of DEAD CAN DANCE profile, the five insist on the same Ethno Gothic Heavenly dimension and bring here 14 tracks of a great variety, with plenty influences of all kinds (Tibetan, Indian Egyptian) usually based on exquisite expressive female vocals. Although I am a devoted fan of DEAD CAN DANCE, I consider this sound to be slightly out of any proportion and at a certain point all those female voices become rather boring because of some repetitive elements dropped in all along the album. They use unconventional instruments and create thus a divine sound, from time to time! Well, it is obvious that, like in RAJA case, we can witness extremely talented and skilful musicians but I think they insist too much on the introverted aspect so that they finally come to create a confusing mood even if the listener can reach a state of maximum relaxation! All in all, if you enjoyed the first album, trust me, it is worth to purchase the second as well! It is a special music, hard to conceive and execute but one that can go straight to your heart!
