It was fourteen years ago when I've first heard about these Americans, respectively when the Greeks from Unisound were vaunting with a Occult Ambient Mysticism project! After waiting for it several months, I finally got to listen to "Nindinugga Nimshimshargal Enlillara", an extremely complex album, hard to comprehend and almost impossible to assimilate. Sure, I could have easily pose myself as being stricken by this music's mysticism - as a profound underground Metal connoisseur as I was - but I found it futile, because I would have to start debating on Sumerian myths and legends...so I let it loose. Later on, I've heard that the band has released a demo after six years since the debut, and another album in 2004, named "Lectionum Antiquarum", but I never got the chance to listen to them. So here we are now, when the Dutch label Displeased decided to release a new EQUIMANTHORN chapter, just as intricate and Experimental as their first one, hard to be described. The members come from significant bands for the mystical musical scene (ABSU, THE SOIL BLEEDS BLACK, MELECHESH), and the project seems to be a bomb on the edge of getting burst, as the seven tracks create a very sinister esoteric universe, dominated by magical rituals and echoes enhanced through hallucinating synths and monumental effects. EQUIMANTHORN is far too hard to be comprehended, at least for me. Maybe you'll manage to do that!
