Once again I find myself "troubled" in understanding this kind of Medieval Folk Rock! Although already at the fourth album, the six Germans hardly manage to outline, in a positive manner, a musical line I sensed at the very beginning of the album. Following CORVUS CORAX or IN EXTREMO sound, the band explores various musical lines, from Folk to Gothic, Rock and even Metal with modest male and female vocals, German lyrics, impressive flute and clarinet, simple guitar riffs, a shy bass and a peaceful battery. "Carneval" seems to be a distinct track, apart from the rest of the album, pointing out even more diverse sonorities and somehow better grouped together. If I have to compare it with previous MORGENSTERN materials, I'd say that dynamics and rhythmic elements are to be differently noticed.
