After a 13 year break, during which Michael Gira was active only as a solo artist and with Angels of Light, and Jarboe pursued her own solo career, it seems extraordinary that here we have, coming up in just a few days a new SWAN album.

This time, there’s no Jarboe and her ethereal touch, but the new work reveals fantastic dynamics with almost the same weird and eerie elements featuring a fully inspirational Gira with his mighty incredible voice. Even if he’s 56, Gira retains his remarkable vocal force. Listen to “Reeling The Liars In” and you can see for yourself. SWANS is, maybe the most representative Post-Punk band in the world, a band who came to be 28 years ago and now is coming back from the grave for the fans in the live version as well. This fall/winter the Americans are scheduled to stop by in Europe with a big tour, that fans are waiting for desperately.

Besides Michael, from the old SWANS line-up, fans will be happy to recognize the guitar players Normal Westberg and Christoph Hahn and even drummer Phil Puleo. The band is made complete by Thor Harris and Chris Pravdica. Their new album is a real piece of art, experimental but also Heavy and delightful. For those who are familiar with SWANS’s music the new album will be a new, fabulous addition to their collection. For those who are unfamiliar to the band, the new material could inspire the unraveling of a unique universe, unknown so far to their ears.
