Desderoth desired to give this project a fairy-tale dimension, that's why he insisted on using plenty of synth alongside traditional fifes on the background. The result is a melodic Epic Black Metal, full of rhythm, saturated in atmosphere, plus some symphonic elements now and then. The voice seems far too common and linear to me, and its aggressiveness does not uncover any intelligent inflexions, solely Black elements trying to make the sound grave. The bass is very well enhanced, and alongside the synth does almost all within this very album... Ah, yes, the battery too presents some interesting transitions. Finally, this album represents an enjoyable audition, even though VALFEANOR tries to chase two rabbits at the same time: the Nordic dimension (see the title) and the tolkian mine (imitating SUMMONING on certain sequences). Also, keep in mind that the drummer comes from VISONS OF ATLANTIS, and Desderoth is now performing in the Black Metal project HELLSAW, which will make the opening act for SHINING during a concert that will be held this month. Let's not perform this album's execution on the wall, it is still a debut we are talking about and this aspect should raise indulgence among the critics. I truly enjoyed the sound!
